Škole zapojením do programu nevznikají žádné finanční závazky.

My name is Nick,

I am an American, and I have the exciting privilege of being able to teach English language to students here in Trutnov this academic year! I received a grant to be an English Teaching Assistant to students through the Fulbright Program – a cultural exchange program administered and funded (in part) by the U.S. Department of State. I will be teaching in two schools this year and one of them is Střední průmyslová škola Trutnov. I am greatly looking forward to teaching students English language through the lens of American culture, while learning Czech language and culture from the students themselves.

Now, just a few words about myself. I grew up in a town called Millburn in the state of New Jersey, just a couple of miles from New York City. I graduated from Villanova University (located right outside of Philadelphia) this past spring, with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and English Literature. At University, I spent a lot of time researching and discussing international politics, and enjoyed reading literary classics from the likes of Jane Austen to Milan Kundera. In my free time I enjoyed playing the drums and percussion with both my symphonic choir as well as for the student-led musical theater program. My hobbies include hiking, running, cycling and reading great books!

I am very excited for this opportunity to live and teach in the Czech Republic because I will get to learn about a people and a culture and a place different from my own. I am looking forward to new experiences, and learning more about the world outside of my own country. Teaching English in the Czech Republic will allow me to continue to learn how to communicate across cultural differences in a country with a rich history and a vibrant culture.
